‘Varuna to look like Lucknow's Gomti'

VARANASI: While reviewing the progress in the Varanasi-Sarnath-Ramnagar mega project phase-II at a meeting with the officials of tourism department, the divisional commissioner AK Upadhyaya said: "The river Varuna would be the look like Lucknow's lifeline-river Gomati."

In this regard, he asked the tourism department officials to consult the local intellectuals before finalising the designs of the five gates proposed at the city's entry points including at Sarnath, Ramnagar, Allahabad, Chandauli and Jaunpuri highways. He said: "The gates should contain the theme based on the religious and spiritual importance of the city."

On the occasion, he asked them to maintain coordination with the groups of different countries like Japan and others, who were investing for the development in Sarnath area, for a planned development. Highlighting the progress in other projects including renovation of ghats, kunds, launching of several new projects of tourism department, he said the review meetings would take place fort nightly for the proper monitoring of all these projects.
